“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” Matthew 10:40.
Reverend Wendy Cordova, Gainesville (GA) First United Methodist Church asks this question:”What might it look like for us to be the kind of people that other people can easily welcome into their “space” (thus welcoming Jesus)? One way… “BE PRESENT”, fully present, giving others all of our attention. (No reading texts or looking at the clock). Full eye contact, fully engaged. To be totally present communicates their value and worth. Being fully present means giving them our full attention, listening (and really hearing) them, putting them first.
My question is…Have we lost this in today’s digital, impersonal, no-contact society? Does anyone feel that they are THE MOST IMPORTANT THING to anyone at any given time? Thank you, Reverend Wendy for this reminder that every interaction with another should be as if we are interacting with Jesus, showing that we are present with them, communicating their value and worth.

Blessed with the gift of gab and hospitality, Bev served as a staff member for a fast-growing church where she discovered her talent for helping people step out of their comfort zone. She began recruiting volunteers to serve in Children’s Ministry, and as the church grew, became focused on the influx of visitors and the need to make sure they didn’t get lost in the growth. For this, she developed a full team of trained volunteers to create the “WOW, from the Street to the Seat”. Her success with this program lead to speaking engagements at churches across North Georgia, prompting a string of WOW experiences! Now, as Marketing Manager for Displayit at Church, she loves sharing her tips, tricks and ideas, that can make a real difference.
